The benefits of taking a defensive driving class vary with each state, but often include a reduction of points on your driver license following a ticket and the assurance that insurance rates will not increase. In some states, taking a defensive driving course can mean a reduction of up to 10% in your insurance rates for a period of three to five years.
States have different regulatory agencies that approve the course. These regulatory agencies have different rules on how often you can take driving education courses and the purpose of the courses can vary from state to state or court to court (insurance reduction, point reduction, etc.). When you register for this course, this site will tell you whether the course is approved in your state or court. However, you should ALWAYS verify with your state or court before completing a driving safety course. Just be sure to take care of it BEFORE your assigned court date or due date.
The Texas Defensive Driving course presented by 1SafeDriver.com is 6 hours in length. Please keep in mind that it is not necessary to complete the entire course at one time. You can start and stop the course as much as you would like to.
You must complete the course within 180 days of registration. Any student who has not successfully completed the course within 180 days will be terminated without notice and will not be eligible for a refund. If you are taking the course for the purpose of dismissing a ticket, the court may have a deadline for you to return to them a certificate of completion.
Quiz questions are pulled randomly from a pool of questions developed for your specific course. Two people may get different questions because they are randomly selected. It's the luck of the draw!
The Texas defensive driving course presented by 1SafeDriver.com does not have a final exam.
If you fail to answer at least 7 of the 10 chapter quiz questions correctly you must repeat that chapter and attempt the chapter quiz again.
Please feel free to e-mail your comments to our support staff for review and verification at any time throughout the course. We appreciate your input!
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) generally release traffic statistics 1-2 years after they are collected. We update the course material regularly to reflect the latest available statistics, which are not always from the year immediately prior.
In order to speed up web browsing, web browsers are designed to download web pages and store them locally on your computer's hard drive in an area called "cache". The cache contains a kind of travel record of the items you have seen, heard, or downloaded from the Web, including images, sounds, Web pages, even cookies. Typically these items are stored in the Temporary Internet Files folder.
When you visit the same page for a second time, the browser speeds up display time by loading the page locally from cache instead of downloading everything again. This sometimes results in less than current versions of web pages being displayed. When the cache fills up, performance can slow down and your hard drive may run out of space.
You should periodically clear the cache to allow your browser to function more efficiently. If you believe that you have a less than current version of a page, please see the following steps listed below to clear the cache in your browser.

Yes. An encrypted SSL connection requires all information sent between a client and a server to be encrypted by the sending software and decrypted by the receiving software, thus providing a high degree of confidentiality. Confidentiality is important for both parties to any private transaction. In addition, all data sent over an encrypted SSL connection is protected with a mechanism for detecting tampering--that is, for automatically determining whether the data has been altered in transit.
